Agency and the Nonhuman in Early Modern Poetry and Prose
This panel features scholarship on early modern Spanish poetry and prose that questions human-centered notions of agency and that accounts for the agentic role of non-human actants (viruses, material culture, non-human animals and plants, climate, etc.). More broadly, the purpose of the panel is to explore how contemporary thought on ontology can generate new or different questions in studies of agency in early modern texts.
